Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. We do not keep a local log of those search terms.

We retain an email or submitted message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers receive basic technical information when a page loads:

Cookies and Analytics

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Poweshiek County guidance points to the sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa DCI, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry as the actual custodians. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into a third-party dossier or consumer report.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention rules, and disclosure practices govern information entered there. We do not control those policies, so review the provider's terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Poweshiek County Sheriff, Iowa court and agency portals, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal information.
An advertising provider may use its own cross-site tracking to select ads. That activity occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information can be available to:
- Analytics providers measuring use and performance
- Search partners processing a submitted query

- Government or law enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

The Iowa Open Records Law, Iowa Code chapter 22, governs records held by Iowa public bodies, while Iowa Code section 692.2A controls dissemination of certain criminal-history data. Neither law turns private visitor data into a public criminal record. Subject to applicable law, you may:
